Dear Aggie,
Congratulations and welcome to the North Carolina A&T State
University Family! My name is Dr. C. Dinitra White and I am the
Pre-Professional Health Advisor at NC A&T. Your outstanding
performance in high school and competitive SAT scores demonstrate your
serious approach to learning and your dedication to obtaining an
exceptional education at NC A&T.
Are you considering a career in medicine? Did you know that you can
choose any major and still pursue a career as a medical doctor? It is
my pleasure to introduce you to the NCAT-ECU Early Assurance Scholars
Program (EASP), a unique collaboration between NC A&T and the
Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University!
The NCAT-ECU Early Assurance Scholars Program was developed to provide
a unique opportunity for select students at NC A&T pursuing a
career in medicine. Outstanding students entering NC A&T as
freshmen may apply for the EASP. Up to eight scholars will be selected
to participate in the program each year. The top two EASP student
scholars will be guaranteed seats in the BSOM entering class, four
years in advance. Provided that the program requirements are
maintained, and the SAT math and verbal combined scores are greater
than or equal to 1200, the top two students will not be required to
take the MCAT. Six alternates will be chosen to participate in the
program. All participants will be required to complete a ‘common
curriculum track’ in order to complete all medical school requirements
and be prepared to take the MCAT (if required) by the end of the junior
year. The EASP is NOT discipline specific; therefore, students in all
majors at NC A&T may apply.
Eligibility Requirements:
- MUST be a North Carolina Resident
- High school senior
- Planning to enter North Carolina NC
A&T in the freshman year
- Combined verbal and math SAT scores
≥1200
- Students with combined verbal and math
SAT scores between 1000 and 1199 may apply; however they will be
required to take the MCAT and must score at least 8-8-8 on the
numerically graded sections of the exam to be eligible for the
guaranteed seats
- GPA of 3.5 or greater
- Interested in pursuing a degree in
medicine
